Award-winning Latin American specialist airline, Air Europa, has launched a new route between London Gatwick and Aeropuerto de Carrasco in Montevideo, Uruguay. The route is serviced three times a week via Madrid-Barajas Airport and onboard an Airbus 330-200 aircraft with 299 passenger capacity including 24 business class seats.
The flights grant UK travellers access to the Uruguayan capital (and one of South America's fastest growing tourist destinations) as well as access to luxury resorts of Punta del Este and Jose Ignacio while offering those embarking from Uruguay with more expeditious access to Madrid, London and the rest of Europe.
Says Colin Stewart, UK General Manager for Air Europa:
This new route to Montevideo once again confirms our commitment to connecting our passengers with key economic and tourist destinations in Latin America. Just last November we launched flights to Santa Cruz, Bolivia, and with this latest service we are cementing our position as the airline of choice to Latin America.
Connections between Gatwick and Madrid are ensured to be “quick” with flights leaving London in the late afternoon/early evening and arriving in Montevideo the following morning. Return flights from Montevideo leave late mornings and arrive in London the following morning.
Outbound flights from London Gatwick fly Monday, Wednesday and Friday – 5:15 p.m. to 8:35 p.m. to Madrid, then 11:55 p.m. to 7:45 a.m. onward to Montevideo.
Inbound flights are Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday – 11:45 a.m. to 5:05 a.m. Montevideo to Madrid, then 7:55 a.m. to 9:10 a.m. onward to London Gatwick.
Other Gatwick via Madrid routes to the Americas offered by Air Europa include Lima, Peur; Buenos Aires, Argentina; Salvador de Bahia, Brazil; Havana, Cuba; Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic; Punta Cana, Dominican Republic; Caracas, Venezuela; and Santa Cruz, Bolivia. Most of the airline's long haul flights can be combined with add-ons by flight or bus to surrounding destations.
Recently named Europe's most punctual airline and sixth most punctual in the world by independent organization FlightStats, Mallorca-based Air Europa is Spain's third largest airline and boasts one of the world's most modern fleets with an average aircraft age of three and a half years.
