Eiffel Tower Closed by Striking Workers

Eiffel Tower ClosedThe Eiffel Tower remains closed following a walkout by tower employees Wednesday morning. A spokeswoman for the tower said the strike was prompted by the suspension of a supervisor but refused to go into further detail.

The company that operates the tower said the open-ended strike could keep the landmark closed for days.

The tower, Paris’ most popular tourist attraction, has been closed several times over the past few months due to bomb alerts, heavy snowfall, and a nationwide strike over a proposed increase in retirement age.
