Volcanoes in Iceland that previously disrupted travel for millions are now providing a tourism boost for the nation.
Following the eruption of the Eyjafjallajökull and Grímsvötn volcanoes in consecutive years, Iceland is now seeing an influx of “volcanic tourism.”
Tours of new lava fields are filling up quickly as human curiosity and cheap travel costs are coupling to make Iceland an attractive destination for budget travelers.
However, even as Iceland enjoys its respite from volcanic activity, geophysicist are keeping a watchful on a third volcano, Hekla, which could be getting ready to erupt.
