Watchdog Group: Be Aware of Huge Price Discrepancies for London 2012 Merchandise

Travelers heading to London for the 2012 Summer Olympic Games should be aware of huge price discrepancies for official Olympic merchandise, according to the BBC.

In a recent survey, consumer watchdog group “Which?” found some stores charging four times as much as others for the same merchandise. The group was shocked to find huge discrepancies between shops located on the same street.

While the Olympic Organizing Committee provides a recommended retail price for all merchandise, individual vendors are not obliged to adhere to it. “Which?” was outraged that such large discrepancies could be found with ease.

The group’s advice to consumers? Shop around.

  • I was just like other travelers before me as I stood under the Arch in St. Louis. I am in the Gateway to the West not for any particular reason, other than toasted ravioli tasting. In order to understand this quintessential St. Louis food, you must do as I did, go taste it at some of the supposed best restaurants for toasted ravioli. Here are three tastings of toasted ravioli in St. Louis that are sure to leave stomachs bursting and taste buds satisfied....read more
