The dancers in the white masks and gloves, known as The Jabbawockeez, were first introduced to a national audience in 2006 when the seven member crew appeared on “Americas Got Talent.” Two years later, the group captured the hearts of MTV viewers when they were named “America’s Best Dance Crew” on the show of the same name.

Earning that recognition catapulted the dancers, who are known for their original style and intricate synchronized moves, to even more exposure, ranging from appearances on “The Ellen DeGenres Show,” “Live with Regis and Kelly,” “Dancing with the Stars,” international appearances and more.

Then, in May 2010, the Jabbawockeez signed on for a 20 day run, performing their 90-minute show directed by Emmy-nominated choreographers Tabitha and Napoleon. “MÜS.I.C.” reflects the mission of the Jabbawockeez – to “inspire the world through music and dance.”

The overwhelming popularity of the show led to a gig at the Monte Carlo Resort and Casino, which kicked off in October 2010. They were only supposed to stick around for a little more than a year, ending their successful run in November 2011. Just last month, their contract was extended once again, this time keeping them at Monte Carlo through spring 2012.

Ben Chung “B-Tek,” a native of Los Angeles and one of the crew, sat down with One Travel to talk about the past year of his life, living in Las Vegas.

One Travel: If you could add one song to your show that best characterizes your time in Las Vegas, what would it be and why?

Ben Chung:  "Flashing Lights" by Kanye West. I feel this song embodies what we have been experiencing out here in the "City of Lights." Everything has been moving so fast that it really does feel like it's flashing by. We're just going to keep doing what we do to keep our light shining as bright as possible.

OT: When you want to chill out, where do you go?

Chung: I honestly like to be in the sanctity of my home. When I'm at home, I'm able to clear my mind and get some peace to myself.

OT: What is your favorite place to grab dinner?

Chung: That's a tough question because I have so many "favorite" places, but I'm pretty guaranteed to eat at Soyo [Korean Barstaurant in Southwest Las Vegas] and/or Oyshi [Sushi in Southwest Las Vegas] at least three times a week.

OT: What is your must-see place you take visitors?

Chung: Red Rock [Canyon] is a must-see. It's very un-assuming of Vegas. It's away from all the glitz and glamour of the strip, but definitely a sight to see.
 
OT: You've had a lot of celebs in the audience during your shows. Who was the most memorable? Why?

Chung: I would have to say [UFC champ] Anderson Silva was an awesome guest. He's a genuine supporter of what we do, and he and his son just had a great time at the show. He even wore the Jabbawockeez mask at the weigh-in against Vitor Belfort! That was pretty epic.

OT:  When you are at Monte Carlo, where do you enjoy hanging out when you're not on stage?

Chung: Brand Steakhouse. Good eats and drinks.

OT: Do you have a favorite spot outside of the tourist areas to go?

Chung: Insert Coin(s). Video games and drinks. What else do you need?

OT: How is Las Vegas different from other places you have lived? What do you like about it?

Chung: Vegas is a "24 hour city." You can pretty much find anything you need at all hours of the day, or night. I love the convenience.

OT: I love Las Vegas because ...

Chung: It's a one-stop shop for opportunity.
