Romantic Restaurants in Chicago for Valentine's Day

Whether you believe in Valentine's Day or think it's just another consumer holiday, one thing is for sure:  Your woman would most likely still enjoy a gesture of sorts when February 14th rolls around.

If you find yourself in Chicago and struggling a bit with Valentine's Day plans, there is a simple solution.  What girl doesn't enjoy a nice meal and conversation with the one she loves?  With that in mind, here are a list of restaurants in the Chicago area ripe for becoming the backdrop to a perfect night out.

Italian

Fiorentino's - 2901 N Ashland Avenue, Chicago, IL 60657
This authentic Italian restaurant will be offering a special set of dishes on top of its normal fare.  Choose to indulge in Osso Buco this Valentine's Day at Fiorentino's.

Monastero's - 3935 West Devon Avenue, Chicago, IL 60659
Run by a family, the Monastero's, this Sicilian Italian restaurant is offering a five course fixed menu for Valentine's Day for $95 per couple, and that includes a glass of Champagne and a bottle of wine.

Seafood

Oceanique - 505 Main Street, Evanston, IL 60202
On Valentine's Day, Oceanique will be offering a special five course meal for $95 per person.  All food is either organic produce or seafood from sustainable sources.

Riva Crabhouse on Navy Pier - 700 East Grand Avenue, Chicago, IL 60611
The Riva Crabhouse offers a seafood based menu, but the real draw to this joint is the location.  Dine on this lovely evening with views of both Lake Michigan and the glorious city of Chicago.

Steakhouse

Tavern on Rush - 1031 N. Rush Street, Chicago, IL 60611
For the finest grade of meat, head to Tavern on Rush.  The Valentine's Day special includes a five course dinner for two for just $180.

Benny's Chop House - 444 N. Wabash Avenue, Chicago, IL 60611
Benny's will be offering their normal menu on Valentine's Day, plus a few other dishes and a delectable dessert combined with a special cocktail.

American

Feast - 25 East Delaware, Chicago, IL 60611
Feast is located in the Gold Coast neighborhood and offers a casual dining experience on most nights.  On Valentine's Day, however, the restaurant will be offering a three course dinner from a fixed menu for $45, and that includes a glass of champagne.

If you will be arriving on cheap flights to Chicago, it is advisable to book your table well in advance of the big day.  The last thing you want is to be shuffling around on the night with your date as you try to find a restaurant to dine at.  That wouldn't be very romantic, so do start making your plans as soon as possible.

Set yourself apart from the other American tourists and impress your serveur/serveuse with your knowledge of étiquette française. These three phrases are easy to master and will go a long way toward improving your dining experience....read more
